Hard wood garden furniture sets 'can be left outside all year'

04/08/2010 Investing in a hard wood garden furniture set could be the best option for Brits who plan to keep their table and chairs outside throughout the winter.

According to A Greener Garden, people should ensure they do their research before buying a hard wood garden furniture set and make sure it is of a high quality, as sets made of cheaper materials will need to be replaced and "will cost you more in the long run".

"Teak, iroko and courbaril are all great for garden furniture as they have a high oil content," the website explained, meaning they can be left outside all year round.

When it comes to cleaning your hard wood garden furniture set, the website advised using hot soapy water and suggested that it could be worthwhile giving it a coat of teak oil before use to improve the natural finish of the wood.

"If the wood is wet, the teak oil will darken on contact so make sure it is fully dried out before you start," it added.

Ronseal recently launched a new cleaning product for use on hard wood garden furniture sets. The company said that the High Performance Garden Cleaner will help save people "time and effort".ADNFCR-3488-ID-19919122-ADNFCR
