Try cooking sweet potato chips on your gas BBQ

24/08/2010 Looking for something a little different to cook on your gas BBQ this bank holiday weekend? Well, sweet potatoes could just be the answer.

Writing for the National Post, BBQ novice and nutritionist Meghan Telpner suggested making sweet potato chips as an accompaniment to a meal or as a snack on their own.

To cook the sweet potato grills, Ms Telpner said you will need to slice up two sweet potatoes and cover them in olive oil, salt and pepper, or herbs of your choice.

Next, place on your gas BBQ, which should be heated up to around 400 degrees, turning occasionally, and check that they are cooked through before serving. Ideally, the chips should be slightly crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle.

Ms Telpner suggested serving the chips with a sauce made from cashew nuts, tomatoes, lemon and garlic.

For a tasty desert, why not try the fruit and chocolate kebabs as suggested by The Sun's Fit Squad earlier this week? ADNFCR-3488-ID-800038186-ADNFCR
