Top tips for cleaning a gas BBQ

15/09/2010 People should make the effort to clean their gas BBQ shortly after cooking to save themselves time and effort, it has been suggested.

Inger Fountain, writing for, explained the longer that you leave the gas BBQ dirty, the harder it will be to clean.

She explained that the first step when cleaning a gas BBQ should be using a wire brush to remove any remaining food and this can be done almost immediately after cooking.

"Leaving this on the grill is one of the worst things you can do as it harbours rust-promoting elements," Ms Fountain explained.

Once the grill is completely cooled, she suggested spraying it with a light coating of cooking oil as "this will 'seal' the grill and ensure no rust is allowed in".

Finally, Ms Fountain explained that the grill should be cleaned with baking soda, before being wiped with aluminium foil to remove any last traces of grease.

Also writing for, Jean Reeves suggested recently that investing in the proper utensils can make cooking on a gas BBQ much easier.  ADNFCR-3488-ID-800065906-ADNFCR
