Make the most of a gas BBQ by using it to cook a whole rotisserie chicken

03/09/2010 Cooking a rotisserie chicken on a gas BBQ is a great idea if you are having a family gathering.

Rotisserie is a style of roasting where the meat is skewered on a long solid rod while it is cooked over a BBQ.

Rotisseries are made for both gas and charcoals BBQ grills and it is important to follow the manufacturer's directions to make sure the chicken rotates freely, Chickenkeepers.co.uk explains.

A drip pan should also be located within the grill to catch excess fat drippings and prevent flare ups. It will also help to add moisture to the roasting chicken.

The grill should be fired up to high and then it should be left to heat up while the chicken is prepared.

"Rinse the chicken inside and out with cold water. Get rid of the giblets and excess fat, I prepare those up separately for my kitties to be a special treat. Pat the chicken dry inside and out using a paper towel," the site advises.

Once the chicken has been placed on the grill it should be basted every 20 minutes. Cooking time should be between an hour and an hour-and-a-half.

According to Psychicartiucles.co.uk, chicken should not be grilled the same way as steak and should be cooked over indirect heat.ADNFCR-3488-ID-800051228-ADNFCR
