Gas BBQs 'beat charcoal on ease of use'

01/11/2010 As Britain mourns the end of summer and the colder season takes hold, lots of us will be looking to the sales for a cheap grill in preparation for the sunshine's return next year – and gas BBQs will be the choice of many.

The Barbecue Pitman blog has reported how, while a charcoal grill is often favoured by those who long for a more authentic smoky flavour in their outdoor cuisine, gas BBQs make the chef's job much easier.

"You can easily start doing some barbecue [cooking] … with just a flick of a switch. You can also regulate heat easily with convenience and you can even leave it alone due to automatic functions, literally cooking the food by itself," the website asserted.

Earlier this month, those refusing to let cold weather dampen their party spirit were urged not to use charcoal or gas BBQs under cover, in a garden shed for example, as trapped fumes could pose a serious health risk.
