Cook the perfect salmon on your gas BBQ

18/08/2010 Fish is a great alternative to burgers or sausages on a gas BBQ for people who aren't big fans of red meat.

And Brooke Higgins, owner of Sweet Lucy's BBQ in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, recently gave MyFoxPhily some advice on the best way to get perfectly grilled salmon.

According to Ms Higgins, the trick is to season the fish well before cooking, then grill it very slowly for around half an hour.

If you want a little more flavour, she suggested adding a few wood chips to the BBQ to give it an extra kick or including a few additional fresh herbs once the salmon is cooked through.

Ms Higgins said that at "140-degrees, fish is done. You can overcook fish very easily".

Sarah Giles, editor at Easy Cook, also had some suggestions for a meat-free BBQ recently. She suggested people make their own vegetarian bean burgers by combining a tin of kidney beans, breadcrumbs, chilli powder, chilli sauce, coriander and an egg and grilling on the BBQ.  ADNFCR-3488-ID-800030051-ADNFCR
