Archbishop Tutu encourages South Africans to BBQ on Heritage Day

24/08/2010 Lighting up the gas BBQ and inviting the neighbours round is a great way to improve the feeling of community spirit.

And, that's how Nobel laureate Desmond Tutu is suggesting people celebrate their South African roots on Heritage Day, AFP reports.

On September 24th, the day which marks the fall of apartheid, Archbishop Tutu is encouraging people to cook on a Braai - a traditional South African BBQ.

"Let's get together and enjoy ourselves, friends, families and even those who are not friends... The important thing is all of us on that one day again getting together and just enjoying the fact of being South Africans," he is quoted by the news provider as saying.

He added that he hopes the event will carry on the community spirit felt during the World Cup.

Archbishop Tutu is the patron of the Braai for Heritage campaign and first got involved in the campaign in 2007.  ADNFCR-3488-ID-800038188-ADNFCR
