Enjoy seasonal vegetables on your gas BBQ
02/08/2010 Lighting up your gas BBQ and grilling summer vegetables is a great way to indulge in seasonal produce, one website has suggested.
Yum Sugar said that often people restrict themselves to using corn and tomatoes on their gas BBQs and recommended that people try out a recipe with zucchini, known in the UK as courgette, which are at their best in the summer months.
"Make the most of its characteristics by dressing it lightly and charring it on a stick along with grilled eggplant [aubergine] and red bell pepper," the website explained.
It added that people should accompany this with feta cheese and orzu pasta for a "straightforward Mediterranean supper".
The summer months are the ideal time to light up your gas BBQ and indulge in some alfresco eating.
Writing on Aboutmyarea.co.uk, journalist Roger Haywood recently suggested that the whole family can get involved with preparing for a barbecue as kids can make the salad and help play host to the guests.
