Cook pizza on a gas BBQ

02/08/2010 Next time you feel like eating a pizza you should reach for your gas BBQ rather than the takeaway menu.

Writing for, Dave Lobeck from BBQ My Way, suggested that pizza can make a great alternative to the meat and seafood that is traditionally cooked on a BBQ.

Mr Lobeck explained that the pizza dough should be cooked on a very hot BBQ for a couple of minutes, until it starts to grill.

You should then turn the dough over, place the toppings on the cooked side and place it back on the BBQ for eight to ten minutes.

"The end product is crispy and smoky, the way you would expect a pizza to have been served in Italy hundreds of years ago," he explained, adding the recipe can be used on both charcoal and gas BBQs.

Another option for those looking for something a little different to cook on the gas BBQ are seasonal vegetable kebabs. Yum Sugar suggested recently that courgettes taste great when grilled with peppers and aubergine.
